Free to add, works in DMs

Links in, videos out. Voice in, text out.

Shortform turns TikToks, YouTube Shorts and Reels into videos that play right in the chat. ScribeBot turns voice messages into text. Add them to a server, or to your own account so they work anywhere.

  • No sign-up
  • Works in DMs
  • Clips cleared within 10 minutes
  • TikTok
  • YouTube Shorts
  • Instagram Reels
  • Facebook Reels
  • Voice messages
  • Forwarded messages
  • Audio files

The bots

Two small tools. One less reason to leave the chat.

Servers, DMs, anywhere

Shortform

Drop a TikTok, YouTube Short, Instagram Reel or Facebook video link and get the actual video back, ready to play inline.

  • Paste, forward, @mention, /clip, or right-click Download video
  • Sized automatically to each server's upload limit
  • Converts HEVC so clips play on every device
  • Admins choose when it replies with /clipsettings
Servers and DMs

ScribeBot

Send or forward a voice message and get a transcript back. Speech recognition runs on the bot's own machine, not a cloud API.

  • Voice messages and audio files: ogg, mp3, wav, m4a, flac
  • Forward a voice note in DMs to read it silently
  • Audio is processed in memory and never saved
  • Per-user rate limits and a 10 MB cap

Use it your way

Four ways to get a clip. Zero commands to memorize.

Server admins pick how chatty Shortform is with /clipsettings. New servers start in mention mode, so it never surprises anyone.

Just paste it

In DMs, or in servers set to auto, any supported link comes back as a video. Forwarded messages work too.

@mention it

Mention the bot with a link, or reply to someone else's link and mention it. Great for busy servers.

Use /clip

A slash command that works in any server, in DMs, and in group chats once you add Shortform to your account.

Right-click it

Right-click (or long-press) any message with a link, then choose Apps → Download video.

Under the hood

From link to playable video in a few seconds.

  1. Check

Only TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook links are accepted, one video per link, three minutes max.

  2. Download

One request to the platform, preferring 720p. Links that were just shared come from a short cache instead.

  3. Fit to Discord

Too big, or a codec Discord can't play? It's re-encoded to H.264 at exactly the bitrate that fits.

  4. Deliver

Posted as a reply, with no pings, then cleaned up automatically.

Security

Built so it can't be turned against you.

Nothing kept

Videos live in temp storage and are deleted within 10 minutes, or on restart. There's no database of what anyone downloads.

Four platforms only

A domain allowlist plus a disabled generic extractor means the bot can't be pointed at arbitrary websites.

One video per link

Profiles and playlists are capped to a single item, with a 3-minute length limit and a 250 MB download cap.

Fair-use limits

Every person and every server gets its own per-minute and per-hour allowance, so one busy server can't crowd out the rest.

Backs off on its own

Each platform has an overall budget. If a site starts slowing requests down, the bot pauses that site and retries later instead of pushing harder.

Never pings

Mentions are disabled on everything the bot sends, so nobody can make it @everyone.

This website is static. It has no cookies, no trackers, no third-party scripts, and a strict Content Security Policy.

In progress

Self-hosting is coming soon.

We're working on a way to run your own copy of Shortform on your own hardware, with your own limits. Until then, add the hosted bot to a server or to your account; it works the same way.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Why doesn't it reply to every link in my server?

New servers start in mention mode. Someone with Manage Server can run /clipsettings and choose auto to reply to every supported link, or off to allow only /clip and the right-click menu.

Can my friends use it in DMs?

Yes. Add to my account installs Shortform on their own Discord account, so /clip and Download video work in any DM or group chat, with no shared server needed.

It said downloads are paused, or to try again later. Why?

To stay a good citizen on each platform, Shortform limits how many videos each person and server can request, and how many it downloads from each site overall. If a site asks it to slow down, it pauses that site for a while. Links that were just shared still come back instantly from the cache.

A video didn't download. Why?

The usual causes are private or deleted posts, age or region restrictions, videos longer than three minutes, or a platform changing how its site works. Instagram and Facebook are the pickiest.

Can I run my own copy?

Not yet. Self-hosting is in progress. For now, the hosted bot is the way to use Shortform.

Is downloading these videos allowed?

It's up to you to respect creators and each platform's terms. Share clips with friends, credit creators, and don't re-upload other people's work as your own.
